hello there

i will be quick, i want to buy the laptop of my dreams so im stuck at three choices :
Sager with GTX 460
MSI with GTX 285
Sager with Mobility Radeon HD 5870
here is the Templates although i think this is for desktops and im asking about laptops but here it is:

APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: one month maximum
BUDGET RANGE: atm i can say 2500$

USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: extreme gaming (from wow to GTA:IV and new games DA:o rigin, dead space 2 bioshock 2, SF:IV DMC:IV, CoD:MW 1&2, ME:2 and a LOT more.

CURRENT GPU AND POWER SUPPLY: its an old compaq laptop and have a Intel GMA 950 i think but im using it for university stuff and intending to sell it ;)

OTHER RELEVANT SYSTEM SPECS: as to the CPU i want a 820qm but 720 will do it, right ?

PARTS PREFERENCES: i like nvidia more and i have never used ATI and kind of hate it i dont know why but the more nvidia the better and i dont care about the money as long as i get more performance

OVERCLOCKING: No
SLI OR CROSSFIRE: no

MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1680x1050 or 1920x1080

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: i want a card that can play new games released
atleast until 2013 until maxwell comes xD, if anyone know a laptop other than the mentioned above that have a 15.6 and have a GTX 480 then that will do it xD, i really need a powerful laptop for gaming and doing my university things so it have to have a16 in screen as a maximum.
thanks in advance for your support.

Go with the 5870 as that runs slightly better than the 460m.
I think he understands a desktop is cheaper, so there's no point in telling him.

Mind you, even with a 460m or a 5870 you may not be able to play games on max with full resolution.

@dalta centauri:thanks for the info but what about the DX11 games ??? and you are correct i already know that a desktop is waaaay cheaper to build and much powerful than a laptop but i need a strong laptop for doin university math and i need to game on the way thats why i need it to be a laptop, as to playing the games with max details in full resolution is not a big deal i dont mind lowering either of them in exchange for more Fps.
@rolli59: yeah i already checked the notebookcheck.net but im still confused and thats why i asked the community here.
@in_core:thanks for your answers but im not looking for merely opinions im trying to find which is better by experince and numbers and then conculsion opinion ^^.

The HD5870 is the strongest of the cards so paired with the same CPU it would be the fastest.

^Thats the power-sucking children-killing laptop-burning GF100.

For comparisons sake, the GTX460M is roughly a GTS450 while the 5870M is more or less a HD5770; the difference is pretty small, though the ATI does perform ~10% better while sucking 10% more power (However, real-life difference is only 3-5fps and 3-5W.)

@Lrrr: thanks man i already checked that link previusly but that not what i want, for me the GTX 480m is the best but its not avilable on 15 inch laptops so my second choice is either 5870 or 285 or 460 but here is what i think there order is:
1-5870
2-GTX 285
3-GTX 460
-----------
@rolli59: thanks man and taken into considration.
------
@Timop:LOL yeah it is, but its worth it xD
so the ATi is better choice ? but does it have the tesslation thing that the GF104 have ? althought i didnt excatly saw a game use it but you need to be a future proof even if its for 1 or 2 years since thats not exactly a cheap laptop T_T,
anyway thanks man and truly appreciated ^_^

Let's take this slowly here:
"Future proof"
"Future proofing with a laptop"
"Future proofing with a laptop in order to play games"
"Future proofing with a laptop in order to play games on max..."
It cannot be done, no laptop will be able to max out some of the new games at max even if they are lower resolutions, as both cards are seriously lowered such as the 5870m being the same performance of a 5770, and the 460 being compared to a 450. By the time dx11 and tesselation is put to full use, Radeon 6000's series will be out and Nvidia's 500 series will be near or already released.

no i dont mean MAX its just to be able to play games on a med and in lower resolutions and that what i meant by future proof and its just until i finish university and get a job and then pay for it with my own money and buy a powerful desktop (story of my life xD)
anyway thanks guys

I would go for one with a 5650 if you want a moderate dx11 gaming experiance.

@dalta centauri: is it stronger than the 5870 ???

No, but for what you want, it can play most games on medium/high at the laptops full resolution.
