I'm re-building a system that has a PNY GeForce FX 5200 256MB 128-bit DDR PCI card. I'm putting in a new motherboard, GA-MA785GM-US2H (rev. 3.3), that has onboard graphics, ATI HD 4200. I'm also replacing the DDR2 memory to CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Memory CL 5 and the new OS will be Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. New PSU is a Rosewill Green Series RG430-S12 430W Continuous @40°C, 80 PLUS Certified, Single 12V Rail, Active PFC Power Supply
Will the onboard ATI graphics be at least equal to or an improvement over the PNY card? No gaming, Photoshop or video editing; light applications and Internet only. Since the onboard ATI shares memory with the OS (is that the right description?) will the 2 GB DDR2 be sufficient? Wouldn't the system run cooler without using the PNY card?
Appreciate any suggestions.
