I'm looking to the vastly knowledgeable community here at Tom's to help me out. I'm not as up-to-date on current hardware anymore as I used to be. Two years ago I bought a custom built system with an MSI X58 Pro-E. It originally came with a Radeon HD 4850 which I upgraded to an XFX HD 5870 last year. With the release of some excellent new games coming out for PC I'm again looking to upgrade my GPU, however I don't know if the newest GPUs will work on my card.

I'm looking at something along the lines of a GTX 570. I'd like to be able to Battlefield 3 or Skyrim on max settings with my new card. Would a card like this work with my system?

Other system specs:
Intel Core i7 920 2.6GHz
6GB DDR3 RAM
650watt PSU
640GB SATA HDD

GTX570 should work fine on your board in your system!

A single NVIDIA card should work fine. Two or more NVIDIA cards in n-way SLI mode aren't supported by the X58 Pro-E.

The X58 Pro-E is a 3-WAY SLI - http://www.msi.com/product/mb/X58-Pro-E.html#/?div=Basi... and the GTX 570 on a single HD 1920x1080 monitor is fine. Skyrim is less tasking. IMO a GTX 580 for smoother play ;)  Also, if running on a 30" 2560x1600 or 3-monitors 5760x1080 then more vRAM is needed, and I'd look at the 3GB versions of the GTX 580 and if not in SLI.

Yeh. I should stop reading the X58 Pro-E Series manual.

It never mentions anything about whether SLI is supported or not.

They only show how to set up a CrossFireX configuration.
