Helping brother build a pc

Hey all,
My brother wants me to help him build a new PC for Christmas. He wants to be able to stream HD content, burn dvds, and some other typical uses. I think he should build a decent i5 box that he can add to over time but I am looking for advice. My thoughts are he needs to do an i5-750 on an Asus P7P55 board with about 4 GB on DDR3. What do you think? He is starting from scratch except for maybe an old 80 GB IDE HDD and a slow DVD burner.

For a butt-kickin' deal, can't really top the AsRock 870 EXTREME3 // PhII 925 for $210 (if you want to walk on The Dark Side)
