Is it necessary to have a sound card installed?

Hmmm :pfff: 

I still dont understand this, that we really need sound card for 2.1 or 5.1 speakers?? if yes then why??

what difference is it gonna make?

it depends of ur motherboard, but most new pcs have the right input for 2.1 and 5.1

i have gigabyte m68m-s2p and using iball raaga 2.1 channel speakers and planning to upgrade.....do i need to install sound card?

that mobo has access to 2.1 speakers, usually it connect with one wire in the green input of the onboard sound , in ur mobo,

on newegg it says it supports 8 channels, so 5.1 should theorically work with ur mobo :)
