Dual channel MOBO taking Quad channel RAM?

There is NO difference between the DIMMs used in Dual, Triple, and Quad Channel kits. Well, there's one difference - the number of DIMMs in the kit. That's all.

You will have no problem using a Quad Channel kit in a dual channel motherboard - plug in four DIMMs and you will fill both channels. Or plug in two of the four DIMMs, and fill one of the two channels.

On a dual channel mobo:

1 or 3 sticks - single channel

2 or 4 sticks - dual channel

That's all you need to know, the kit in which those sticks came in does not matter, if the mobo isn't quad-channel enabled it'll just run at dual channel instead
