Added ram with no results

Hello,
My brother added ram to my laptop,2 gigs I guess,when I went to check the sysem it states1.87...is this correct..anyhow Iplay facebook games and I still cannot play the games with the added memory I thought I needed,I have a compaq v2000 not new of course and I know nothing about this all,could use some help..thanks
