hello everyone

im trying to help a friend upgrade his system to be able to play cod - black ops.

it looks like we will need to upgrade his cpu from a single core 3700+ to something that will beat these minimum system requirements - * Processor:Intel® Core2 Duo E6600 or AMD Phenom X3 8750 or better.

what im looking to do is use all of his existing parts - evga 9600 gt superclocked, 4 gb corsair platinum 184 pinn ram, 700 thermal master psu, windows 7 64bit.

i need some advice on a motherboard + cpu combo that will work with the ram noted above. all the other parts should work with whatever we choose to go with.

looking to spend around $150.00 for cpu - motherboard combo.

suggestions?

I would suggest for a $150 budget to go AMD.

Here is one CPU and mobo setup

a 3.1 Ghz Athlon II x3, that has a chance that you can unlock a 4th core. - $75

a MSI 785GTM-E45 AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 785G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard - $70

Total $145

The GPU, and PSU should work. If that is really 184pin ram, then its DDR-1 which would HAVE to be replaced. There is no DDR-1 mobos anymore, plus that stuff is slow.

New DDR3-1333 (2x2GB) will cost you another $70. You really want to have DDR3 ram if you want to play Black Ops.
