I have an old pc with core2duo e7500 processor , asus P5KPL-AM/PS motherboard . I have a samsung spinpoint hdd which had bought with system. Now the hdd has been replace around 5 times. When a i receive replaced hdd from service centre , the replaced hdd wont last even a day. When i instal windows it instals correctly , after some time it wont boot at all , just a blank black screen. What could be the problem some say it is the fault of motherboard and advised to replace it . Some say it may have been caused by psu. It is indeed a crappy one just bought for $8. So is it the motherboard problem or psu problem. Also psu is full of dust.

As a new PSU is much cheaper than a new motherboard, try replacing the PSU first, and don't buy a "crappy" one (it must have been really crappy and low wattage if you only paid $8 for it).

Play it safe and buy a 500 watt PSU at least. Buying a "cheapo" one is just false economy and does your system no favours at all.
