Anybody know if the ASUS Sabertooth 990FX with an AMD Phenom II 1100T is compatible with Linux (Debian)? There is a package deal at OutletPC for those components and 8GB of DDR3 for $459.00 that I was thinking about but am a little afraid to purchase.
Do you (or anybody) have any suggestion for relatively high performance MOBO/CPU combinations known to work with Debian? I'm not particular whether it's an AMD or Intel and I don't necessarily want the bleeding edge, just a good solid computer the likes Linux and is a bit faster and more modern than my old system.
I do mostly FPGA development (XILINX ISE) and right now my old P4C800 system takes about six to ten minutes to do a build from my Verilog source to a device configuration file (yawn). I thought I might also use a SSHD to improve the thruput and would be interested in opinions on that as well.
Really though you're best off trolling the Debian Forums and seeing what they run. Intel boards are a bit more common so you will have some better luck as far as support. I'd stay away from boards with uncommon NIC controllers or onboard Wireless NICs
