My father and I own a Kodak DX3900 camera and at Christmas I purchased
2 sets of lenses for them (costing me £150). However, they need a lens
adapter which I'm now told by Kodak have been discontinued - their web
site doesn't state this!!!
Does anybody know of a retailer in this country (UK) where I may be
able to find TWO of these DX3900/DX4900 Lens Adapters or perhaps in the
USA as I have a cousins over there who may be able to purchase them on
my behalf.

A quick Google search
dx3900 "lens adapter"
as the (quotes included) search string gave several results, including the
fairly well-known www.buy.com . See

Thanks Paul!
I'd already searched Google and been to 'every' UK site that I can find
and places which say they have it in stock, do not have them (which I
only find out after I have placed an order and left my credit card
details!) (
Customer Support at Kodak UK seem as much use as a chocolate fireguard
and don't seem to care that I've spent out on lenses which I cannot
use!
I'll email B&H to check if they have them in stock and if so, I'll see
if I can get my cousin in the US to order them for me.

I hope you are able to obtain the adapters, but it seems to me that you
would have checked that before spending money on lenses. What you will
end up with is a lot of money tied up in cameras that are hopelessly out
of date.
In the future, you might want to look before you leap...

I *had* emailed Kodak and received this reply: viz.
+ + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + +
Thank you for your e-mail regarding a lens adapter for your DX3900. You
can order this item directly from our sales department by contacting us
at any of the numbers below.

If Kodak or their web site had showed that the adapters had been
discontinued, I would not have spent money on lenses!
It was not until after I tried ordering from the places that they
mentioned that I found out that they were impossible to get in the UK.
The only reason that I had purchased the lenses separately was because
Amazon sold them at about half the price that Kodak charged and with
free shipping.!
After searching through Google newsgroups it appears that the problem
with Kodak DX3900 Lens Adapters in the UK was in existence as far back
as July 2004.

Hi Paul,
My cousin went over to New York for a week and he called into the B&H
store and has now brought the 2 Kodak lens adapters back for me!
Thanks for your help!

Greetings Gareth,
You should be able to set your camera to store pictures on a card if it is
successfully inserted in the camera and formatted for FAT. Make sure that
is your situation. If the card is not formatted as such try reformatting in
the format type.
To manage your storage options, try the following.
1. Turn on the camera.
2. Press the Menu button.
3. Press to highlight Image Storage , then press the OK button.
4. Press to highlight an option, then press the OK button: Auto
(default)-the camera uses the card if one is in the camera. If not, the
camera uses internal memory. Internal Memory-the camera always uses internal
memory, even if a card is installed.
5. Highlight Continue, then press the OK button again (this is a key step in
making sure the camera will store images as selected.) The setting remains
until you change it and applies to all camera functions.
6. Press the Menu button to exit the menu.
Let me know how you make out, Gareth,
Talk to you soon.

erm... what's all this about storing pictures on a card?
I've been using the camera for 3 years and storing the pictures on a
128MB card that I bought, but not on the piddly 8MB card that came with
the camera!
My problem was trying to purchase a Kodak DX3900 lens adapter in the
UK, which is now impossible.
The Customer Support at Kodak UK were of no help whatsoever but I
finally managed obtain two adapters from a cousin of mine who visited
New York and bought them from the B&H store on 9th Avenue, Manhattan.
Kodak USA who have them in stock will not ship to the UK!
I can honestly say that I'm not at all impressed with the Kodak
company!

You might consider that international laws may limit the options the
company has in this, and similar, matters.... Just a thought.
