I'm going to build I new computer for the first time so i'm learning.

I need some advice to see if everything is compatible and if I can make it cheaper without reducing performance too much :)  On a budge for aroun $1500 NZD

So I was thinking:

CPU
Intel (BX80605I5760) 2.80GHz Core i5 760 Processor Socket 1156 (8MB L3 Cache), Retail Box with Cooler.

Ram
Kingston (KVR1333D3N9/2G) ValueRAM 2GB 1333MHz DDR3 Non-ECC CL9 DIMM x2

Case (ATX)

Raidmax (238WB-500P) Tornado Entry Level Gaming Case (Black), Side Window, Comes with 500W PSU

Motherboard (ATX) supports - DDR3 2200/1333/1066/800
Gigabyte (GA-P55-USB3) Intel P55 Chipset Socket 1156 Support Core i5 And i7 Processors ATX 4x DDR3-2000 Max 16GB 1 x PCI-E x16 GB USB3

GPU
XFX HD5770 1Gb DDR5 DX11 PCIe ( HD-557A-ZHFC ):

HardDrive
Western Digital (WD1002FAEX) 1000GB (1TB), 64MB Cache, 7200RPM, Black Caviar SATA-II 3Gb/s

Wireless Card
TP LINK (TL-WN851N) 300Mbps N PCI, Extended Range, 2.4GHz, IEEE 802.11n (Draft 2.0), 802.11g/b, Wireless PCI

Sound card
Creative (70SB107100001) Sound Blaster 5.1VX Retail box - 5.1 Channel. Surround Sound in Movies/ Games/ Music. EAX. CMSS

The width of the internal HD bay is 3.5" so that mean my 4" Hard drive won't fit i'm guessing.

Also the case comes with a 500w power supply will this be enough to power everything?

Thanks for replies in advance :D

you do realize he's in new zealand, right? and his budget is NZD and not USD?

OP, i'm having a really tough time navigating the dragon pc site... prices keep changing and the layout is really weird. all i have is general advice:

-500w is fine for your needs, but i'd be somewhat concerned about the quality of the PSU that comes with that case. if you can find a good (well-reviewed) 500-550w PSU, buy that separately from the case.
-getting a sound card is a waste of money at your price point. you'd be MUCH better served using that money to get 4gb of ram instead of 2gb.
-i'd consider dropping down to a 500gb hard drive like this one and putting that extra money towards a better video card (GTX 460 or Radeon 6850).

one final option would be to get an AMD Phenom II x4 955 and an AMD motherboard instead of i5/Intel. This will save you like $120 that can be put towards more powerful RAM/GPU/PSU.

that alright, ultima beam I think I will take your advice and drop too a 500gb HD. and I will have a look at AMD insteal of intel and get a better GPU. thanks! I guesss you didn't see the x2 next to the ram? so thats 4gbs.

Yeah NZ is a rip off !

Why is there such a big price difference between the

AMD Phenom II x4 955

and the

intel i5 760

?? The AMD 955 seems to high higher specs than the intel i5 760, but the 760 is more expensive?
