Just a word from someone who's done it...partition that bad boy, don't just have a single 1tb partition. Performance will suffer (is suffering for me till I finally break down and buy an SSD).

thx, ill see if i can buy an SSD as a boot drive, and leave the 500gb Samsung hdd as storage, how much space do i need on an SSD to use it to install the OS?

uh like 20 gigs, but I advise getting around 60, so you can put a few games on there....

That's my beef with SSD's currently...I wouldn't be happy unless I had room for all my steam games, so right there I need a 256....I refuse to pay that much money for 256gb's haha. But you should be good with a 60 or better. It depends on which version of Windows you use, and how light you like to run it. If you are like me, and use ultimate and way too lazy to trim much fat, a 60 would be minimum. If you run basic (not a good idea) and like to trim away the fat, you might get away with a 30. All in all, I'm personally waiting till the price drops, which may be never.

From what I read, Windows 7 scales to what size hard drive you have, so the more capacity the better. I could be wrong though. Like you said, more or less for games/apps is the reason I said 60. I'm weird about hard drive space though.

none I know of.... maybe the 1tb model will get cluttered, and slower to search, but you can just defrag it

What atotalnoob said. That's what I have right now, just the 1tb. It started out a lot faster, but it's getting slower recently(almost a year). By slow I just mean a bit more latency between clicking a program and it actually opening. I could fix it if I wasn't lazy though, by doing a clean install and partitioning it more. In-game you won't notice much difference beyond faster loading times.
