Generic 550 W for ATI 4770

Forum CPU & Components : Power Supplies, Cases & Mods Generic 550 W for ATI 4770

Hi¡
I´ve a generic psu(and cheap just 22 €) with 26 Amps in the 12 V rail, and 550 W.
My CPU is a Pentium E5700, and the GPU is an ATI 4770.

I´m concerned about having issues due to the low quality PSU.

Also do you think that I could buy and use a new 5770 with my current my PSU??.

Thanks

26 amps should be enough for the 5770, but having a Generic power supply is a real gamble since you really have no clue if it can handle anywhere near what it says it can output. Everyone here will tell you not to trust a cheapo no name unit because most will end up blowing up if stressed to hard and could potentially burn up your whole system.

i dont care how high the wattage is - if its a generic unit i would not recommend it...

mmm.. I think I would buy a new PSU, any recommendations?,
I´m on Spain, and I would like to spend no more than 40 €.

Your case has a cut out for a backplate to be installed, so you SHOULD be fine installing...
