Gigabyte 970A-UD3 CPU Cooler Installation Issues

This is my first build and Im trying to install a CM 212 Evo onto the MB, and the manual says to attach the cooler to those clips on the motherboard(shown here http://tinyurl.com/42jgsjn) but, the screws on the cm 212 evo bracket like line up exactly with the screws on the black clips on the motherboard, so i feel like i need to remove them, but im not sure. Anyone give me advice? This is my first build, so it is completely possible i could be missing something here.
