Not all of Monitor is used

I bought a new 23'' monitor today. Hooked it up but there is about 1-2'' of unused screen around the whole monitor. Any help would be appreciated.
BTW I have:
P2 X4 965
Diamond 5850 (just downloaded newest drives)
4GB RAM
ASUS M4A89 GTD Pro

Go to CCC and find "overscan" option, set to 0%.

Before you select overscan, verify that the resolution is set correctly.

You did not specify which monitor, But for a 23/24 in monitor, widescreen 1920x1080 is common. Check specs for your monitor.
