Wondering if I should get an XFX 5770, or get a different GPU. My budget is $150, and this pretty much maxes my budget but seems to be the best I can find. Or should I wait for the HD 6xxx series?

This is the 5770: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150447. I would like something from XFX, ATI.

My current setup:
PSU: OCZ 550W Modular PSU
CPU: AMD Phenom II X2 560 BE
MOBO: ASUS M4A785-M
GPU: XFX Radeon HD 4770
RAM: Mushkin DDR2 800MHz 4GB (4x1GB)

Solution
I don't know neither when the 6xxx series is released.
But if i were you, i would go with HD5770 for now (your max budget), you can sell it later and get HD6xxx series... :)
Well, if you can't wait then get that HD5770, that card is good enough to handle most of games with decent setting (depend on what resolution and game settings).

What about the rest of your specs?
CPU-RAM-Motherboard-PSU?

Later on this year my setup will be:
CPU: AMD Phenom II X2 560 BE
Mobo: Asus M4A88T-I Deluxe
PSU: OCZ 550W Modular PSU
RAM: Mushkin DDR2 SO-DIMM 1333MHZ 8GB(2x4GB)

I'm looking at making a mini powerhouse. I've done research, and the Mini-ITX board from Asus can actually be comparable to full sized boards, and use six core CPUs too.

Resolution: 1080p
My budget can go a little higher if its worth it.

Edit: Sorry DDR3

so, what is maximum resolution of your monitor?
HD5770 is good enough to play any games with decent setting on HD monitor...
SInce $150 is your max budget then go with that card, HD5xxx series isn't going to be an absolute/ancient series... :)
