Hello,
looking at purchasing a macbook pro 13 inch. It has the intel dual core processor. It appears to be sufficient for my needs but is that technology to old?

The Macbook Pro 13" has a Core 2 Duo processor. It is a couple generations old, but is most likely more than sufficient for everyday laptop use. You have to step up to the 15" to get the newer (heheh, almost 1 generation old) Core i5 processor.

If all you do is surf, watch videos, type documents, listen to music, etc

Then yes, it's most likely "fast enough" for you.
