Hey all,

I've been thinking of getting an SSD for my rig for a while but it's been hard for me to justify the price. Now that I got my taxes back ( :D ) I have a little extra money to spend and 250gb sd for $150 seems like a solid deal.

My current setup:

CPU: intel I5-3750k
Mobo: MSI GD65
GPU: Gigabyte GTX 670
RAM: 16gb Corsair Vengeance 1600
HDD: 1tb 7200rpm segate HDD
PSU: 600watt OCZ Modular

Does anyone have any experience with this SSD? Should I pull the trigger?

Thanks

I have just been doing a Lot of reading on this drive over many reviews.

For a great overview of the underlying tech and review check out this Anandtech review:
http://www.anandtech.com/show/6337/samsung-ssd-840-250gb-review

I also found this one interesting:
http://www.hardocp.com/article/2012/12/19/samsung_840_series_tlc_250gb_ssd_review/1#.UT9odleLLls
(Bear in mind that this sites steady state testing is done during a state of forced garbage collection - they talk about this more at the end + why they think it is relevant)

I am quite possibly going to buy the 250GB one myself.
A mix of its size and DSP help give it a predicted life far over 7 years with 12GB of data writing per day.
Seeing as I Never keep a mech HDD in use for half that time, I think this 840 represents Very Good value for money compared with this in mind.
+ its excellent performance in almost all tests even beating out some of the other best drives on the market in many areas help make it a pretty sound choice.

On a slight budget this could be the prime choice of SSD right now for many users.
