Cannot play games with Sapphire5970

i recently purchased a Sapphire 5970 video card,but since i have installed it i can search the web watch movies but i am unable to use it for the main purpose of getting it and that is to play games.As soon as i try t load up a game it locks up my screen then reboot itself or the screen just stays frozen.I have tried reseating it in the pci-e slot,updated the driver for it but nothing seems to work i know its not the motherboard because i was using a Sapphire 5770 before in the same system.Any help will be appreciated.My PSU is SIlverStone strider st1000w MOBO is ASUS CrossHair IV

Are you sure you installed the right drivers? Looks like a driver issue to me, or possibly a bad card.
First of all, I'd check the temps on the card. If they're normal, then it's probably the drivers.
For the drivers, download and install DriverSweeper from Guru3d, then:
uninstall current ATI drivers via control panel
boot into safe mode
run driver sweeper, and choose to remove all ati graphics drivers
boot normally
install newest drivers
see if that works.

did all of that before and when i was trying to install driver the monitor keep changing color from bright red to blank then system would reboot.maybe it is a bad card

tried older drivers?
or you can try your card in different machine, if the same problem appears then RMA your card...

what is your power supply ?? are all the aux power cables connected
1x6 and 1x8 pin power connectors ??

everything is connected older drivers will not work.When i tried older drivers the screen keeps flickering then go blank and then msg comes up saying ATI driver stopped responding and has recovered"
