PCIE x16 need help

hi, I have a PCI Express x16 on my motherboard and was wondering if this is a PCI E 2.0 or 1.0 I dont know how to tell and I need to know if I go buy a new graphics card thats has PCIE 2.0, will it work on a PCIE x16 1.0?

Yes. PCIE 2.0 is compatible with 1.0, and 2.1 is compatible with 2.0, and 2.1 is mostly compatible with 1.0.
