But I have doubts about the 2 processor i7 960 or i7 970?

Wich one do you preffer?

It's for using 3ds max - Photoshop and Autocad!

Thanks and regards,

970 if you're going to need/make use of all 6 cores, wait for Sandy bridge to come back if you're content with 4 cores - 2600K stomps over every quad core that came before it.

As Psycho said, the difference (other than 2 more cores if they can be used) between the 960 and 970 is negligible - wee bit faster, bit more L3 cache (I think).

However, if you are sticking with X58 and lean towards the 960, you can save an extra few bucks by going with the 950 and giving it a wee overclock to match.

Well thanks all.

I will go for the 960, I think thats good enough for me to do the job.

here is the whole configuration:

- Antec P193 Super Mid Tower (No PSU)
- Cooler Master PSU Silent Pro (Modulair)
- Asus 1366 P6X58D Premium
- Intel 1366 Core i7 960 3.2GHz Box
- Corsair DDR3 12GB 1600MHz (3x4GB)
- Sapphire AMD 6950 2GB DDR5
- SSD Intel X25-M 2.5 80GB SATA2 MLC
- Western Digital Caviar 1TB SATA3
- Samsung SH-S223C DVDRW SATA 22x black
- Samsung SyncMaster BX2450L (24")
- Logitech wireless Desktop MK520 (Azerty BE)

I have noticed that they drop in price. And in 2 years I switch to Socket 2011.

Thanks for the answer and help.

Greetz and regards,
Novak

Niiiiice system.

I'd still be inclined to suggest waiting until April and do a 2600K Sandy bridge if you're only going for a quad core CPU and a single GPU, but if you're looking at going socket 2011 in a few years anyway then you might as well get what you can afford now.

You still have a great system.

Great build. A for the Sandy Bridge, I read the other day that Intel has fixed that, so all should be good. Personally, I'll wait for a bit and see how things REALLY go with that processor. For the time being, I'll stick to my 1366 based stuff. I am not one to jump on new stuff all that quick anyway. although I did jump on the Core i7 rather fast, at least for me. Heck my other desktop is running a Pentium D 945, so I have skipped over a lot. : )

Hi Nova..
Cooler Master PSU Silent Pro (Modulair)
How many watts did you go for?

i am into virtual machines, just designing a core one..
Do let me know, i am stuck between a lot of wattages, not sure what to do..
