I performed this mod nearly 4 years ago. e4300 using 1333 with tape and copper to 3ghz!!!!. after running stable 24x7 with speedstep ON and no voltage mods and no bios settings. this was truly a special processor. so i guess any naysayers look like fools. i never had a bluescreen or any instability and the chip transcoded probably 30TB of video.

anyway i psudo-bump this thread out of respect for the greatest cpu mod ever.

Thanks to dadiggle I just did this to my E4300.
Been running over a month 24/7 no problem
Went from 1.8 800mhz FSB to 2.4 1066 FSB (1066 is highest my Dell Optiplex 745 goes)
I am looking for a E4700 2.66 800mhz to do this too.
I figure out at 1066 it will be clocking at 3.5ghz.
I am just waiting to see if the price drops on ebay.
They are about $80 USD
I will have to look into cooling options but it should be stable.

The BSEL mod certainly isn't "just" for boards without overclocking options.

Try overclocking with an enthusiast board, crank up the voltage, turn off speedstep invest in a cooler. You will still have problems.

Use the BSEL mod and turn an e4300 into an e7500. No problems. Stock HSF. Cheap intel MB. Leave speedstep on.

Without BSEL about 2.2ghz was as fast as I could get it stable. BSEL 3GHZ for 4 FREAKING YEARS. Nonbelievers have never tried it. period. No idea why it works better than overclocking, but it does.

Doesn't really make sense in this day and age since you can get a i5 for $170 that will smoke a core2duo. Copper tape from a music store and electrical tape is the way to go BTW.
