Hello,
I have a problem, I am playing a simple graphics game, "Counter-strike 1.6" and I can't stay at a constant 99 fps. I'm not sure if it is my hardware because I thought what I had was good enough for several games. Let me know what you guys think, here are my specs.

My Rig:
MOBO - GA-K8N Pro-SLI
CPU - AMD Athlon 64 x2 4200+
GPU - BFG Geforce Nvidia 9800 GT
2gb DDR Memory
450 Power Watt Supply

Well what frame rates are you getting?
Naturally its not always gonna stay so high, being in a open area it has to render more things, dropping framerates.
Also i believe the cmd is "cl_maxfps" Whats your setting for that?

Your gpu is good enough to run games at a high FPS, but your problem lies with the mobo and your cpu bottlenecking. It seems your mobo is only compatible with ddr 400, which isn't that fast as compared to ddr2 or ddr3. If you have the dough go to newegg and get yourself some upgrades. You can find package deals as well to help out your issue.

Thank you very much, so what your trying to say is that my GPU is good and fast enough and doesn't need an upgrade right? Because before reading this reply I bought another 9800 gt to SLi it.

Also, by bottlenecking you mean my MOBO and CPU are slowing my GPU down and I need to upgrade them?

So I've been doing some research and I was wondering if you could let me know what you think about the MOBO, CPU, and MEMORY i'm probably going to get, and to see if it would match up ok. Also since I already bought the extra 9800 GT I will still use them.

MOBO - BIOSTAR T5 XE CFX-SLI LGA 1156 Intel P55 ATX Intel Motherboard
CPU - Intel Core i7-870 Lynnfield 2.93GHz 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1156 95W Quad-Core
MEMORY - G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB)
GPU - BFG Geforce 9800 GT 1MB(2)
PSU - 450 WATT

Yeah, I'm not doing any hardcore gaming really. But what do u mean by overkill, does that mean it might be too much for my computer or that I just don't need it and shouldn't spend money on it.

Oh and to answer your question before my frame rates were from 50-99.
My maxfps cmd is at 100. I know about all the commands and stuff.

"were" ?? 50-99 will max fps at 100, whats so wrong about that? certainly nothing to get another 9800 over...

And yea, paying the extra 100$ or so for the 870 isnt worth it for gaming.
