Toshiba Corvino HD restore on new OS isn't happening.

I have a Toshiba Corvino portable HD that I did an automatic backup on using the supplied NTI program. I then formatted the hard drive and loaded Windows 8. When I connect the Toshiba and try to load my files it doesn't show any previous backups to restore. I can see a backup file on the portable HD with the date of my backup.
Does anyone know how to restore my files. Thanks,

I must have a different owners manual, mine doesn't have any installation or user information all that's included from the link is warranty information which continues in different languages. It's the same one that I've read on the disk.
