Hi All,

Im having an issue with my system booting up after a few hours of it being powered down. Basically I have a i7 920 overclocked to 3.8GHz and 2 x 6950's crossfire and when I power up everything starts running but it doesnt boot, but when I hit the reset it then boots up.

I've dropped the CPU to 3.6, 3.2 and it still happens but when I default it at 2.66Ghz then everythings ok. My question is, is my PSU hindering my overclocking ability and do I need an upgrade. Please see my system specs below.

Windows 7 64
ASUS P6T SE iX58
Intel Core i7 920 3.8GHz
OCZ 6gb DDR3 1600MHz
XFX Radeon HD 6950 2GB x 2 Crossfire
*Hi-Power Black 800W Modular 13.5cm Fan PSU - 4x PCI-E, 20+4pin, 6x SATA*

I believe that the above PSU is discontinued. Please advise.

Regards

Thanks for the reply. I have not tried another PSU but I will try my friends PSU soon.

Yes you need to upgrade from a cheap generic cpu.You get what you pay for.
Chances are more then likely your unit doesn't provide 800W continuosly but is rated peak power.
Buy a well-known and reviewed 850W psu from Corsair,Antec,Seasonic, or XFX.
Upon further review i found stats for your unit but still no proper review.
800W continous 900W peak.
In contast a Corsair HX750 or an Antec TP New 750 peak at over 920W.
The Corsair HX850 peaks at 1000W.

I won't be surprised if other poster recommend 1000W units.

Thanks for the info!

I'll be trying my friends OCZ GameXStream 850W PSU tonight and mess around with overclocking my i7 to see if the PSU is the cause. If so then i'll be looking for an upgrade.
