Question about BG2

I just started playing BG2 again after installing ToB. One of the first
things I noticed was a new sequence right at the beginning. A (what I
think to be) Drow Elf approches me in my cage and wants to know the
race of my mother. It gives me many options. I tried Drow, Wild, and
None of these thus far and it seems to piss him off and he leaves. And
when I chose Drow I lost A LOT of rep and became a fallen ranger. Is
there an actual answer to this guy? I'm assuming he's part of ToB
because I've never seen him before. Thanks.

Very odd, never seen that before. In a similar vein though, Irenicus
said something very odd to me - something about not throwing rocks at
him this time... Anyone know what the hell that's about?? I think
it's time I reinstalled without mods and did some experimentation.

Sounds like a Subrace Mod, yes.

That's Shorter Cutscenes, an Ease of Use and/or Baldurdash Tweak
component.

It's not part of the original ToB, subraces weren't implemented in it,
but I believe some mods allow you to pick one this way. You may want to
check the readme files of any mods you installed before and after
installing ToB, I expect that one of them put this in. I'm not familiar
enough with them to tell you which one it would be, though.

Good luck!

Ahhh. That explains it then. I have had the subrace mod installed
forever and this is the first time it has worked. Although the readme
didn't state it was for ToB only. Cool. Thanks for the info.
