Ok I currently have an old Linksys router model BEFSER41. When I test my speeds at www.speedtest.net with the router connected I get around 6 megabits download if I bypass the router and run the same speed test I get around 24 megabits per second download?!?!?!?!
What the hell is going on here? Is my router so old it cant take advantage of the bandwidth provided by my ISP?
I even upgraded the firmware on the router and the same thing is happening

I believe the Internet port on your router is only 10 Mbps.
^^^Thanks I think your right!!!! What Linksys router should I replace it with? My current internet speeds can go up to 30 megabits down
Any 100 Mbps router will do. There are routers (like my Netgear WNDR3700) with Gigabit ports, but that only for connections between PCs with Gigabit ports themselves. Otherwise they just operate a 100 Mbps.
Ok so if I see 10/100 listed in the router specs Im good 2 go?
