My PC isn't working optimal?

Hi!
I just wondered why my PC won't render as good framerates as my buddys PC, which is specced a little lower on the graphics card end. Here's our two set-ups:

MY Setup:

Processor: Intel C2D E8400 @3Ghz
Memory: 6GB DDR2 @800Mhz
Graphics Card: Ati Radeon HD4890 1GB
Mobo: Asus P5N-E SLI

His setup, which runs games smoother somehow:

Processor: Intel C2D E8500 @3.16Ghz
Memory: 8GB DDR2 @800Mhz
Graphics card: Ati Radeon HD4870 512GB
Mobo: Gigabyte EP45-DS3R

And we both JUST re-installed our windows systems (Windows 7 x64). Same display drivers. And i have a sufficient power supply as well (Chieftec Super Series 650W PSU). So, as I said, when we play e.g Call of Duty - Modern warfare 2 with the exact same settings, his PC seems to run the game much smoother than mine.
Anyone have a clue what the problem might be?
In advance, thanks!

Are the monitor resolutions the same?

Both would benefit from 3.6+ overclocks. I found mine really likes where it is nor 4.050 or 450 FSB.

Yeah, but I don't really understand the performance differences we are having. I run at 1920x1080 and he runs at 1680x1050 or something, but I've tried to lower my resolution to the same level, and still the same things happen.

And about the overclocking, i think my CPU is kinda hot already, since it runs up to 55C or so, while I'm gaming, on standard clock. And 45C or so while idle

You are running at a higher resplution. That explains why he gets better FPS.

Get a CPU cooler. I overclock to 4.050 and idle around 26C and rarely reach 60C even after hours of 100% load.

As I said, i tried lowering my resolution to the same as his, and still the same results. And about the CPU clock, it doesn't really answer my question why he is running the game(s) so much smoother than me, since he barely has a better CPU than me. He haven't overclocked it either, mind you.
