XFX ATI Radeon HD 5670 hangs at boot screen

Hi, I have installed a new XFX Radeon HD 5670 video card to replace an older Nvidia 8800 GT card. I uninstalled all nvidia drivers and made sure my onboard Intel graphics work. After the install of the video card (no drivers installed yet), the boot screen comes up but it stays there. All fans are working but it just hangs. I tried taking out the card and using the onboard graphics and that loads fine. Plus, I have changed the BIOS settings to load the PCI-E card as priority. I am stuck, please help.

Can you boot to safe mode ? or it still hangs ?
Do you have any other systems to test your card in it ?

i'm having same problem running
intel mb dg33tl
6 gig corsair xms2 memory
intel core2 quad q6700
7 fanss
antec 750 power supply


run on board fine
and a runs a nvidia geforce 86 gt fine
