Hello,
I would like to use a Intel Core I7-950 3.06 Ghz CPU with a Asus Rampage III Formula motherboard, AMD(ATI)Radeon 6870 1GB PCIe video card and 3 2GB DDR3 1333 PC3-1060. Does this looks like a good choice for gaming\upgrading\overclocking a system, also I would like to keep this system for many years. Thanks

It will definately be a very good gaming system and will probably play games decently for a few years.

If you want to get the most for your money and more "futureproof" then wait a week for the rerelease of the Intel Sandy Bridget processors (2500k and 2600k). Technically there's no way to futureproof anything so intuitively the faster you go the longer it lasts. It might even be cheaper to go 2500k than the 950.

I agree. Anything you buy now you will will wish you would have waited for the bigger and better processor/memory/mobo/GPU. Get what you can afford now. But if you are going to buy a new system and spend it on the sandy bridge line (e.g. i7 2600k) which is about the same price but much better performance. This will be more "upgradeable" in the future.
