Hi,

I want to build a pc mainly for editing. I don't have a big budget and want to get the most performance to out of what I can afford, around $300 would be great.
It seems like the Thuban x6 would be a good choice for rendering videos.
I would also like a Mobo that will not be obsolete for a little while down the road.

These are the choices I've been able to find so far:

AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition Thuban 3.2GHz Socket AM3 125W Six-Core Desktop Processor HDT90ZFBGRBOX
ASUS M4A79XTD EVO AM3 AMD 790X ATX AMD Motherboard

If you happen to have a suggestion that is better/cheaper, please let me know also.

Planning to use this RAM with it:
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL

Thank you for your help!

Solution
Unless you plan to actually need to upgrade the CPU in the next couple of years, any of those would work. By that time, they will have new sockets and CPU architecture, so you'll need a new board anyway.

Get one of the cheaper combos you listed and spend the extra $50 or so to get 8GB of G.Skill Ripjaws instead of 4GB.
