Current specs:

ASUS P5Q Pro LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard
EVGA GeForce GTX 260 896MB 448-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16
CORSAIR 750W ATX12V / EPS12V
Intel Core2 Quad Q9400 2.66GHz
CORSAIR DOMINATOR 4GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM
Western Digital Caviar Blue 320GB 7200 RPM

I'm going to throw in an SSD for faster game loading, but with a sleight of nice games being released in the next year, I wonder if upgrading the graphics card to a GTX460 or GTX470 would be worth it, or if the CPU would become a bottleneck?

I would love suggestions on how to upgrade it to play newer games at more decent frame rates.

A new i5, new mb, ddr3, and a graphics card, or just a new graphics card?

Anyone think it would be worth upgrading this machine, or is more money spent going to give very little improvements?

Your current specs are still good enough to play any games with decent setting, you only need upgrade your card to GTX460 or even HD5850 and a little OC cpu should help a lot... :)

What resolution do you play at?

The GTX 470 is on par with GTX 260's in SLI (two cards). I can vouch for that myself, as I had a GTX 260 SLI setup and put in a 470. Basically the same performance. So going from the GTX 260 for 460 will be an upgrade, but not quite double performance.

Also, depending on your resolution, it may or may not be worth doing anyhow.

My monitor is 1920x1200 and I prefer to play at that resolution.

Thanks for putting it in perspective there... basically I'd be spending ~$300 and not see double the performance... I could buy a SLI mb and another GTX260 for the same cash. lol.
