Unless you are using ACHI mode currently for your HDD, I would strongly recommend a fresh installation of Windows 7. However, I have had success using MiniTool Partition Wizard to shrink the volume of a hard drive to a size appropriate to copy to a SSD using Acronis TrueImage. Keep in mind that copying a hard drive isn't exactly the fastest process in the world and loading from scratch will likely be faster in most cases.

As long as it isnt a new motherboard, it isn't considered a different computer. You are allowed to install Windows on a new HDD, or in this case, SSD.
