Display Provlem

I have a dell dimension 4600 Windows XP SP3, Intel R82865G Graphics Controller Revison 2.Upon start up my color quality changes from 32 bit to 8 bit. My screen resolution stays the same at 1280 x 1024.I went to Microsoft updates and it says controller up to date
