Hi, I'm planning to buy a new computer, but I'm wondering how powerful my PSU needs to be. (I'm obviously going to buy a PSU from Antec, considering I'm already going with an Antec Case.)

Thusfar I have the following config:

Motherboard: Asus P8P67 PRO DDR3 Socket 1155 Intel® P67
CPU: Intel Tray Core I7 2600K
CPU cooling: Scythe Mugen II CPU Cooler REV.b
Case: Antec Dark Fleet DF-30
GPU: Sapphire HD6970 2048MB
Memory: Corsair 16GB KIT (4X4GB) 1600Mhz
HDD: Western Digital WD20EADS 2000GB 64MB SATA300 7200rpm
SSD: OCZ 120GB Vertex 2 S-ATA II MLC
DVD: Samsung S-ATA 22X DVD-RW
BLu-ray: Lite-ON S-ATA 4X BLU-RAY Reader

I'm also going to overclock the CPU to 4.1Ghz.
However, could you bear in mind that I might stick in an extra HD6970 (when I can afford one) in several months after the initial purchase of this particular system.

Hello,

If I were you, I'd buy a Corsair PSU...they are, in my opinion, far better than those of Antec. Plus, they have some that are fully modular. I'd recomend a 850w PSU, and my pick would be this one : http://www.corsair.com/power-supplies/modular-psus/professional-series-gold-2/ax850.html
You can't go wrong with it. Alas, it's price tag is higher than most 850w. You have to pay a little extra for the top quality. But don't forget that it has a 7 years warranty ! That's really incredible and should speak for itself.
If it's too expensive for your, you could take a look at this one, also from Corsair : http://www.corsair.com/power-supplies/non-modular-psus/enthusiast-series-1/enthusiast-series-tx850-v2-80-plus-bronze-certified-850-watt-high-performance-power-supply.html

I hope this helped,

You're right...I hadn't considered the possibility of futur upgrades (apart from the second graphics card for SLI). In that case, if you want the best quality, you'd have to get the AX1200 version. I have one, and it's quite expensive, about 300$US.

Al I think you were right the 1st time, 850w would be plenty for XFired 6970's, each card draws around 200w.

This XFX is a great price http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817207001

But I'm also with you on getting a Corsair, any of these depending on your budget

If money is no object I would get this over any of the others
