More about need 16gb
  1. Does the voltage of the new memory match that of the older memory? If not, that might be your problem.
  2. The new ram you just got , is it the exact same ram as what you had. What is your MB and CPU.
  3. YES ITS THE EXACT RAM

  6. CPU Type QuadCore AMD Phenom II X4 Black Edition 955, 3200 MHz (16 x 200)
    Motherboard Name Asus M4A79XTD Evo (2 PCI, 2 PCI-E x1, 2 PCI-E x16, 4 DDR3 DIMM, Audio, Gigabit LAN, IEEE-1394)
Motherboard Chipset AMD 790X, AMD K10
    System Memory 8192 MB (DDR3-1600 DDR3 SDRAM)
    DIMM3: G Skill F3-12800CL9-4GBSR2 4 GB DDR3-1600 DDR3 SDRAM (9-9-9-28 @ 800 MHz) (8-8-8-25 @ 711 MHz) (7-7-7-22 @ 622 MHz)

  7. Even if the RAM you just added is the identical part number RAM it is not guaranteed to work unless you purchased the RAM as ONE, tested, matched 16 GB. Kit.

Assuming that your RAM is AMD Phenom II approved, I'd run Memtest86+ from a floppy, CD or flash drive on one DIMM at a time to be sure they are all good. If your PC boots then you can go into the BIOS and try slower RAM freqencies or timings as the mixed RAM is also NOT guaranteed to run at the advertised speed and latencies unless bought as ONE 16 GB., tested, matched RAM Kit.
