Good CPU cooler and SMPS for my config

Hi guys

This is my system config -
AMD Phenom II X4 965 C3 3.4Ghz
Asus M4A88TD-M EVO/USB3
4GB Kingston Hyper X 1600
Zotac GTX 560 AMP (to be ordered in 1 week)
Antec 200 cabinet (1*120mm + 1*140mm exhaust, 2*120mm intake)
CM Extreme Power Plus 600W

Pls suggest me a good air CPU cooler using which I should be able to overclock my CPU to at least 4 Ghz . Currently on full load (prime 95) my CPU with stock cooler hits 54 C.
My short list - CM Hyper 212+, CM Hyper n620, CM V8, CM V6
(Corsair H50 and H70 are not considered as I felt they are costly and the performance difference is only marginal. Correct me if I am wrong)

I also want an SMPS as I felt the current one will not be able to do well. Please suggest me a good 650/750 W SMPS which should be silent and stable.
Shortlist - CM GX 650/750 (does Corsair have better options?)

The only companies that have good sales and service here in India are Corsair and Cooler Master.

Thanks in advance .. :)

The hyper 212+ does extremely well for its price bracket, i wouldnt pay the extra for the V6 over it. If you really need a lot of extra thermal headroom then go all the way to the V8 or the Noctua NH-D14.

Take the cooler master GX series off the short list and put them on the crap list, they cant stay in spec while delivering more than about half their rated power.

Take a look at the XFX 650W units, Corsair 650TX, Antec Tp-650, or Seasonic S12II 620W, any of those units would be fine for 2 560s.

GX into the crap list :D  .. Going for the Corsair TX650 ..
For cooler I'll check my budget and cabinet space ..

Thanks a lot for the advice ..

Good choice on the Corsair TX650!
hunter315's psu advice is 100% rock solid.
I agree with the 212+ but would buy a V6GT over a V8.
The Scythe Mugen 2 is very good but works best with 33mm tall ram.

^^Thanks :)

Are there any good 120 mm fans that can perform better than the one in the Hyper 212+ or Scythe Mugen 2? Its because I cant find the exact rated fan that they provide to set up a push-pull config.

CM fan specs -
Fan Speed 600 - 2000 R.P.M. (PWM)
Fan Airflow 21.2 - 76.8 CFM

Scythe Mugen -
Rated Speed: Upto 1300 rpm± 10%
Noise Level: 0 ~26.5 dBA
Air Flow: 0 ~74.25 CFM

On a budget, the Scythe Mugen 2 is "da bomb". As for your thoughts on the Corsair H50, I'm in agreement however the newly released Antec Kuhler 620 is changing a lot of minds. BMR writes:

Priced to compete with high-end air coolers, the Kühler offers similar performance and a lower noise level. It's the first compact liquid cooler I've tested that can honestly be considered as competition for the likes of the Cooler Master V6 GT, Prolimatech Megahalems, and Thermalright Venomous X.

With both using the same the Delta fan, it beats the H70 by 6C. That rounds out my "Top 5", well BMR's top 5. I am a "hardware whore", loyalties go out window, and let the numbers (performance) rule the choices.

- Cooler Master V6 GT (Solid performance, quite loud)
-Prolimatech Megahalems (customizable to fit ya needs, easiest to install, great performance)
-Thermalright Venomous X (great performer, but given the others, no reason to stand out)
-Scythe Mugen 2 (under $50, far outperforms any other option)
-Antec Kuhler 620 (only the loud V6 beats it w/ the Delta fan, wonder if sandwiching it between case fan and cooler fan can match performance w/ Delta)

Mugen match is a SlipStream or you could use a Kama

The 212+ stock match is a Blademaster R4-BMBS-20PK-R0

personally i wouldn't change the Scythe fans they are fine and quiet too.
If i were to replace the 212+ fans i would still chose high rpm fan apparently the 212+ performs better with high airflow.
Scythe S-FLEX SFF21F 120mm Case Fan

The only problem is if you change out your fans from stock you're killing your budget.Adding a second fan only decreases temps 1-2C.
As previously mentioned the Mugen2 is a better cooler and quieter too.

Thanks for all the encouraging replies ..

Going to order Scythe Mugen 2 .. Will stick with the stock fan itself for the moment and see how "da bomb/monster" performs.. ;)

Oops .. I have a problem .. :(
My motherboard has only 3 pin fan connectors and I read that the Mugen fan uses a 4 pin connector. Can I connect the 4 pin to the 3 pin? Or do I have to buy a 4 to 3 pin connector or something??

yes u can, the 4pin cooler connector works fine on 3pin mobo. but it will work @ full speed, ~1300 rpm, but its still quiet. I had mugen 2 till few months ago, now I use it passive! on a E5300 @ 3.6 Ghz. I tell u, that cooler is a MONSTER.

The fan plugs into the 4pin cpu fan header on your mobo,
You don't need to buy anything extra.

^^ Guess I spotted the wrong pin header for chassis fan. :ange:  :D
