I might plan to get SSD soon. Currently have 1 tb toshiba HDD, with win7 installed on it. if i were to buy a new SSD, how would i move my OS from HDD to SSD, without having to install a fresh copy of windows 7, and keep my current files, and settings like firefox saved login infos, and saved java compliling settings on my HDD. I dont want to wipe away my old HDD, i just want to have ssd run my windows, then other files and setting stay on my HDD.

You wont gain the full benefit of your new SSD unless you install a fresh copy of Windows onto that drive. Then you use the Data Migration Software included with your new drive to clone your data on your old hard drive and copy it to your new one. Its an automated process that they make very easy to do.
