Hello,
Not sure whether this is the right place, but I've got a Radeon HD 5850 working with a Coolermaster GX750W.

Basically, the graphics card heats up to about 100C and then switches off - I know it shouldn't, but have no idea why it is? I'm running a quad core 2ghz Intel chip, too.

Help!

What do you mean open the heatsink and reseat it? Sorry, I'm a complete novice when it comes to this! Do you mean the fan on top of the actual Intel processor? The card itself is enclosed so I don't think I can do anything there?

When it comes to the card, will the high temperature melt the insides, or should it be OK?

Again, sorry - I'm a total noob!

Thanks for that dipankar -- but where is the heatsink for the card? There is a foxconn heatsink of the motherboard -- do you mean this? This has been there since I bought the PC though, so I wouldn't think it would be this?

Yeah, the fan spins - it just gets to 100ish degrees and switches off - the fan gets to about 70% too!

Manufacturer is ATI (XFX).

Update: I took the card to the PC shop today and the card is indeed faulty - they said it was unlikely it was the heatsink and that they weren't sure why it'd be that.

Going to try the NEW card now! Fingers crossed!
