And to the original poster... The Sandy Bridge desktop chips have been holding all the benchmarks, even beating out the last generation i7's Extreme Editions. So for the laptops, I would also lean toward the Sandy Bridge at this point. However, the new AMD lineup has been hush hush... so until it is fully released and tested, one can only imagine.
