Hello all, im new to these forums and am getting ready to build my first pc.

After awhile of searching around, it turns out that the Biostar A770E3 (my choice in mobo) doesnt support 125W cpu's (stock version of BIOS), so i heard that i must use a 95W cpu to update bios for my Phenom II 955, so i come asking, IS IT POSSIBLE to update BIOS with a dvd or flash drive? Thanks in advance :)

Flash drive yes. I'm not sure about biostar but some of the other boards you can save the new bios on your hdd and go into biostar's version of Qflash and do it in the bios during start up. And yes, you will need an already supported cpu to operate the board to update the bios no matter which way you do it. Are you sure a bios update will fix it so you can use that board? What cpu are you planning on using? Is it this one - HDZ955FBK4DGI ? Funny how biostar doesn't list a bios version, just a file name - 78XADB03.BSS

Bios update for the A770E3 WILL update the TDP, newegg says its 125w compatible :/ i've heard its only after the bios update to 6.x. and Yes, it is the phenom 955 -HDZ955FBK4DGI

Thanks for the reply, i'll wait till november (blk friday/cybermonday) and upgrade my mobo i suppose
