How do I update bios on Dell Dimension 8300 purchased in 2002 or 3? I want to upgrade processor from 2.8GHz,512KB to 3.4GHz, 1MB.

The only BIOS upgrade that is likely to work is one provided by Dell. Check their website. If there's no new BIOS - and there probably isn't - I don't know of any way that won't possibly brick your motherboard.

Your current BIOS may support a new processor (if you haven't checked). And there's probably no need for a new BIOS to upgrade memory.

Hi, first make sure that your current bios version supports the cpu you want to install, according to this http://support.dell.com/support/ed [...] tm#1102188 the cpu you want to install is already supported.

Never update your bios if your pc is running stable, unless you want to upgrade to a cpu that is not supported by your current bios, or for hardware compatibility reasons. Don't think there even is a bios update for your system.
