Seagate ext HDD USB connector "clicks" when plugging in usb 3.0 cable

As above. It's a new Seagate Expansion usb3.0 1TB external hard disk I just bought... when I plug the cable in, it takes some effort, and I need to press a little.

But the few times I've tried, I heard a click sound inside the drive.

Is my hard disk's usb connector faulty? I'm quite afraid that it's the connector soldering parts being damaged!

More about seagate connector clicks plugging cable
  1. I used to have a Seagate Expansion and, as I recall, the usb port on it was uncomfortably loose so I connected the cable to it and never removed it after that.
To unplug it from the PC I always unplugged it at the other end only.

If the drive works okay I wouldn't worry about it, but don't keep disconnecting the cable at the drive end if you can avoid it.
  2. Do you think it's a good reason to bring it back to the retail shop for an exchange? Since I'm still within my rights as a consumer to return it for a new one.
