As above. It's a new Seagate Expansion usb3.0 1TB external hard disk I just bought... when I plug the cable in, it takes some effort, and I need to press a little.

But the few times I've tried, I heard a click sound inside the drive.

Is my hard disk's usb connector faulty? I'm quite afraid that it's the connector soldering parts being damaged!

I used to have a Seagate Expansion and, as I recall, the usb port on it was uncomfortably loose so I connected the cable to it and never removed it after that.
To unplug it from the PC I always unplugged it at the other end only.

If the drive works okay I wouldn't worry about it, but don't keep disconnecting the cable at the drive end if you can avoid it.

Do you think it's a good reason to bring it back to the retail shop for an exchange? Since I'm still within my rights as a consumer to return it for a new one.
