Hi guys. I am new here. I want to build a new home system. Can you help me? I am a total noob when it's come to hardware.

Approximate Purchase Date: in around 2-5 weeks

Budget Range: maybe around US$ 2000

System Usage from Most to Least Important: 3D rendering, real time rendering and gaming

Overclocking: Maybe. How can I overclock?

SLI or Crossfire: Nope.

Monitor Resolution: at least 1080p for my primary monitor, and 720p for my secondary.

Parts/Specs I had in mind:
- GeForce GTX 470
- AMD Phenom™ II X6 1090T
- 4 ram slot which I will put 4gb each. Maybe I will get 8 first and later I will upgrade it to 16

Which motherboard should I choose?

Thank you :D

If u need CUDA i would rather take GTX 460 1GB/256bit else for multi displays consider HD 6850/6870 Alternatively Cayman Pro/XT is incoming so another (prudent) option could be an IGP based chipset like 880G/890GX and await availability/price revisions?

Thanks for the response :)
Why did you prefer 460 and 6850/6870 over 470 if I may ask? Sorry. I don't really understand about hardwares.

The GTX 470 is a tad toasty and a wee bit of a power guzzler so if u want Nvidia due to the CUDA feature then the slightly lower end GTX 460 is a better overall buy If CUDA is irrelevant the new HD 6k cards currently offer good scaling via crossfire (with HD 6950/6970 incoming) on top of being mmore efficient vs their HD 5k cousins before them. Hmm i can go on for a while but if not sure what apps/software do u use for rendering?

I see. Does 470's heat and energy not worth considering it's performance? Does the new HD 6k good?

I used 3DS Max and Poser Pro 2010.

Wow. I think the 6ks are good. But which one is better, 6870 or 6850? According to the graph on your link, sometimes 70 is better, but sometimes 50 is better.

I have few more things to ask:
- Why you prefer 6Ks over 5Ks?
- How 6Ks performed compared to gtx 460 or even 470?

Thank you for your great help :D

1. Better price/performance, higher efficiency and superior crossfire scaling
2. HD 6850 ~ GTX 460, HD 6870 ~ GTX 470
3. Which card depends on budget, kind of games, gamer profile u fit, yada yada
The power draw and recommendations are stated in that review posted  You are welcomed ^^

Well, I think I will get the 6870. It doesn't have any problem for multiple displays right?

How about the X6 1090T? Is it good? or should I get an I7 instead?

Btw what motherboard should I choose? how can i choose the motherboard?
