Problem Solving, Laptop HDD to E-sata, will SDD fit in laptop

I am thinking of getting an SDD for my laptop, and i am presuming it is the same as a normal 2.5" laptop drive, so if i replaced it with that there should be no issue?

Also as i currently have no Desktop computer, i was wondering how i would go about connecting the old 2.5" HDD to the laptop to transfer files, would i be able to this with an adapter and if so what would i need?

Provided your current laptop hard drive has a SATA interface (since all SSDs are available only with a SATA interface) you should have no problem.

To transfer data from the old hard drive after it's been removed from the laptop, you can buy a 2.5-inch hard drive enclosure, either online or from any large computer store. It plugs into your laptop's USB port. Like this example:
