Will a emachine with windows 7 take more then 2 gigs of memory

i have a emachine it took windows 7 , will the emachine hold more then 2 gigs of memory, i know the factory emachine with windows xp will only hold 2 gigs and now i have it updated the windows will the motherboard and bios let me use more then 2 gigs of memory

depends whether it is the 32 or 64 bit version of Win7. 32 bit version will only recognize a max of 3 gigs. Most likely only 2, 4, or 8 gig configurations are possible in your machine. So you will need the 64 bit Win7 to use the 4 or 8 gig configs. Correct me if I'm wrong folks.

If you have open slots you can get 2 more 1 gig sticks or if not you could buy this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820134641. I can't imagine any more than 4 gigs in an emachine.
