ATI 5970 or 2 x GTX470

Hi,

In terms of performance and heat, how should I go: 2 x GTX 470 or a single 5970?
I don't care about Eyefinity, 3D.

get 2 x gtx 460's, then with the money you have saved, buy some games and a carton of beer.

2x GTX470 will outperform the 5970. The heat will be more, but you won't notice it unless you plan on sticking your face in the exhaust on the back of your case.

Guru3d.com has an article showing that the reference GTX470 noise levels are quieter than the MSI GTX460 Cyclone, 42dB at load vs. 43dB.
