SCSI Raid 5 disk read error, drives at optimal?

I have a 3 drive SCSI Raid 5 setup I now get a read disk error during boot up, all my drives show up and all are at optimal.

If the drives are found and are at optimal what could be causing the read error?

Cable? Controller? And where do you get the "optimal" information from? The guessing would be easier with a little more information about the system.

How do you know they are 'normal'? Did you check the SMART attributes for each drive? Can you post this information here in your thread?

It is possible you are encountering bad sectors. If you perform a rebuild or similar action you will overwrite these bad sectors and the problem should disappear. However, it is best to first identify your issue, then fix it. Not the other way around.
