i'm currently playing Final Fantasy XIV and i'm not getting good frame rates. i'm getting between 5 and 25. i'm thinking maybe it's more a problem with my pc overall than the video card. here's my pc specs:

Asus p5k-e wifi
intel core 2 duo e6750 conroe 2.66ghz
g.skill 4gb ddr2 800 ram
msi hawk HD5770

do you suggest i upgrade the cpu, mobo and ram?

what resolution are you playing at?

your CPU would be the weak link. can you over clock it?

i've tried all resolutions between 1280x720 and 1920x1080. mostly windowed because the game doesn't tab out well. full screen doesn't give much of an improvement. i play on a 42" 1080p tv.

to be honest, i've never tried to overclock anything but i'm sure i could do it.

if its a mass produced PC like an Acer, DELL (non xps), HP, etc., you won't be able to do it.

otherwise post your cpu+mobo when asking for help, plenty of helpful people on the OC forum and several good articles up top

thanks

no it's not mass produced. i built it a few years ago. specs were listed in the first post.

check the Asus web site for the CPU compatibility list. microcenter currently has the Q9300 for around $130, if you have the budget. a good quad core to OC and FFXIV seems to like quads.

thanks i just may try that. i was looking into upgrading the cpu, mobo and ram but if i can get a quad core and squeeze a little more time out of this aging system i may just do that.

thanks for the help
